Obviously not an Aussie burl, but one of my favorites to turn (and smells great too) . . . two pieces I turned below, both with visible frost cracks that are common in a burl that grows in the -50^oF temperatures that can occur in northern Minnesota.

2 hollow vessels I recently turned - the one with the frost crack from a BA-1 cut block. Bad photos (I need to re-shoot) but you get the idea. The left one obviously has a frost crack.  Personally, I think it gives the piece an antique look. No, I did not use tape or CA/glue of any kind.
