Because of my wife's busy schedule with the Symphony and our two little ones, I don't have a set schedule for classes. Just means I need to plan a bit in advance to make sure I can give you my full attention. Nor do I have a set class plan.  I tailor classes to your needs and requests.

I'll try to remember to post better pictures of my shop after I finish items 1 thru 999 on my To Do List. I have 3 lathes available, a Powermatic 4224, Nova 3000 and a Nova DVR, and can tailor classes as you wish, including sharpening/tool tips, vacuum chucking, hollow form turning, winged bowls, finials, pepper mills, basic digital craft photography (and power carving if you wish).

I live in Chesapeake, Virginia, just south of Norfolk and west of Virginia Beach about 12 miles north of the North Carolina border. There are plenty of inexpensive hotels nearby. I highly recommend Hyatt Place at 709 N. Eden Way in Chesapeake. Their phone number is 757.312.0020. It is less than 2 years old, gets great reviews, and is less than 2 miles from my house, so if you're flying in and prefer not to rent a car, I can pick you up and drop you off each morning/evening. The closest airport is Norfolk International (ORF).  Again, if you prefer not to rent a car, I'll gladly pick you up and drop you off at the airport.

I prefer 1 on 1 or 2 instruction (so I can give you my full attention and you can get your money's worth), though I will consider taking 3 students.  Of note, my spouse works full-time, and from JAN-MAR and OCT-NOV I'll likely be doing shows, so I will not schedule specific class dates.  If you're interested, email me at jsyvertsen@cox.net or call me on my cell at 757.816.5622 and we'll work out a date(s).
