Pen Blanks, Knife Scales, etc.

4/30 . . . I do not normally keep an inventory of pen blanks (though I have a few remaining Lace Sheoak in the thumbnail picture below) or scales.  I have (and will continue as time permits) strip cutting at 3/4-7/8" some red mallee, brown mallee, corrugata, york gum, concinna and horistes that are suitable for pen blank stock . . .

STRIP CUTS (for pen blanks). . . I don't want to get into the business of cutting hundreds of pen blanks (time is at a premium with a little on and working wife), but I will gladly strip cut burls at 3/4-7/8" (or whatever you request) for blanks and send you the whole burl (minus the saw dust). You'll then be able to cut as you want (so you can get contrasting sapwood if you wish).

STRIP CUT PRICING . . . I do not charge extra for strip cutting a burl, so pricing will be the same as a whole cap (and depending on the burl, your cost will likely be in the $1.00 to $1.75 range (anywhere from 20 to 50% of the standard 3/4" x 3/4" x 5 " pen blank depending on where you're buying). . . I have PLENTY to cut . . . so don't hesitate to ask.

CUTOFFS . . . I usually have plenty of cutoffs (inquire about species availablity). See sample strip cuts in the thumbnail photos below (Click on the pictures to enlarge). Cutoff pricing is $5/lb (current weight) . . . That is a substantial discount over the regular burl cap price which is (necessarily) based on harvest weight.
